2006 Batelle State Bioscience Initiatives Report

This 2006 report presents updated data, examines growth trends, and identifies metropolitan areas with the largest and most concentrated employment in each of the bioscience subsectors identified in the 2004 report. These include agricultural feedstock and chemicals; drugs and pharmaceuticals; medical devices and equipment; and research, testing and medical laboratories.

BioEnterprise Report

Midwest health care startups reported $792 million in total investments in 2006, according to the Midwest Health Care Venture Investment Report released by Cleveland-based BioEnterprise. The total represents a 25 percent increase over 2005, a significant jump that outpaces national industry growth. In Michigan in 2006, $135.5 million went to 11 companies.
